March Is My Reset Month (And I’m Prepping NOW)
January storms in with fanfare and thunder.
March waits patiently backstage while everyone else’s hype fades away.
And I love it.
March is my reboot month. Without all the hustle. Reset time. Time to take a breath before life really kicks into gear.
Some goals are still intact… others fizzled out. Lol — okay, I’m guilty of this plenty of times. That’s why I’m already thinking ahead to New Goals To Set In March. Ones that feel simple. Small. Actually attainable.
Rather than waiting until March gets here, I’m doing the prep work now — figuring out which areas of my life actually make sense to put more effort into this next season.
In this post, I’ll share my intentions for March and how you can prep now too!

Why Setting New Goals In March Makes Sense
Think back to the beginning of the year.
January is exhilarating.
March is practical.
By March, I already know which habits have stayed consistent and which ones didn’t work at all. I’ve tested out my systems and routines. I know where I slack off. I know what drains my energy.
That clarity allows me to:
-
Adjust the goals I set for March to align with my lifestyle
-
Avoid making new goals just for the sake of it
If you feel like you’re falling behind, please know — YOU ARE NOT behind.
March hasn’t even started yet. You still have time to intentionally hit the reset button.

How I Choose What To Start Each March
Rather than jumping into new goals blindly, I ask myself a few honest questions:
-
Where do I feel stuck?
-
Where am I making things too complicated?
-
What have I been saying I’ll start “next month”?
Guilty as charged.
Once I ask myself those questions, I boil everything down to FOUR broad categories:
-
Health
-
Productivity
-
Money
-
Personal growth
Yep — that’s all.
I could try to revamp my entire life in March. But instead, I’m focusing on small improvements I know I can maintain.
Baby steps, not jump shots. Find your momentum and run with it.

Personal Growth Goals For March Ideas
1. Prepare for a 30-Day Reading Challenge
“I want to read more books…”
Repeat that enough and you actually start to believe it. But wishing isn’t going to help you build a habit.
Come March, I’m committing to reading 15 minutes before bed each night. Nothing crazy. Just 15 minutes.
That’s enough time to read a few pages. Maybe even listen to a book on Audible.
If I’m in the mood to read longer? Wonderful. But my goal will always stay small.
If you want to create a new habit this March:
-
Pick a consistent time each day
-
Make it easy to get started
-
Keep your goal so small you can’t fail
Tiny habits pack a BIG punch.

2. Declutter One Small Space
Old me would set the intention to declutter my ENTIRE home.
Nah. Not happening this year.
Instead, I’m going to pick ONE area I consistently feel overwhelmed by and declutter it in March. For me, that’s my closet.
I’ll spend 20 minutes each Saturday going through my clothes, getting rid of what I don’t wear, and donating items that don’t fit anymore.
Pick one drawer. One inbox. One junk corner in your house.
Start small. Clarity grows from there.

3. Move My Body Three Times Each Week
Wanting to “hit the gym more” sounds great.
But if that’s not sustainable for you right now, make smaller commitments.
I’m challenging myself to move three times each week in March. It doesn’t matter where — just that I do it.
-
Go for a walk
-
Do a quick workout at home
-
Dance around the living room while my kids watch TV (hey, it counts)
Movement is about progress, not perfection.
If you want this habit to STICK, schedule it on your calendar.
Stop guessing when you’ll “find the time.”

4. Reboot My Nighttime Routine
Scrolling through TikTok until 2 a.m. isn’t doing me any favors.
March is when I start enforcing a no-phone rule 30 minutes before bed.
Instead, I’ll:
-
Dim the lights
-
Stretch
-
Read a book
Sleep = happiness.
You don’t need to completely overhaul your nighttime routine. Just put your phone down a little earlier.

Financial Goals To Work On In March
5. Audit My Monthly Spending
I refuse to wait until I’m in a financial rut to look at my numbers.
Before March even starts, I’ll take 30 minutes to audit last month’s spending and ask myself:
-
What shocked me?
-
Where can I cut subscriptions I don’t use?
-
How can I trim the extra fat?
Awareness goes a long way.
You don’t need a complicated budget to make meaningful improvements.
6. Focus On Building My Emergency Fund
You know those months…
When your car breaks down. Or the fridge suddenly stops working.
March will be my reminder to consistently set aside money to build my emergency fund. It doesn’t have to be a lot. Just something.
If you’re just starting out, aim for $500 first. Then slowly work your way up to 3–6 months’ worth of expenses.
Don’t wait for an emergency to start your fund. Start small and watch it grow.
Relationship Goals Ideas For March
7. Send That Text I’ve Been Meaning To
We all have that friend or family member we say we’ll “reach out to soon.”
March is the month where “soon” actually happens.
Trust me — they’ve probably been wondering if you were going to text them too.
Relationship goals don’t have to be complicated.
Send a text that says:
“Hey, I’ve been thinking about you! How are you?”
Boom. Done.
8. Plan One Experience
Life gets crazier — not calmer — as the year goes on.
Plan at least one fun experience to look forward to in March.
It doesn’t have to be over the top. Something as simple as:
-
Cooking dinner together
-
Taking a day trip
-
Hosting a game night
Memories can be made anytime. Don’t wait for summer.
How to Prep Now for March Goals
Here’s the thing about goals.
Making a list is easy.
Taking action is where most of us fall short.
That’s why this year, I’m changing my approach by:
-
Writing down my goals
-
Scheduling each goal on my calendar
-
Keeping my goals small
I can commit to “doing more” all day long. But what good does that do if I don’t take action?
How to Prepare For March Goals
1. Write Your Goals Down
If it’s not on paper, it’ll fly right out of your mind.
2. Schedule Your Goals
If you don’t schedule your goals, they’re probably not going to happen.
Don’t just wish for more “free time.” Put it on your calendar.
3. Start Small, Then Improve
I can tell you all day to “drink more water.”
But if that feels overwhelming, start small.
Drink one extra glass each day.
Once that becomes a habit, add another.
Small goals = long-term consistency.
Final Thoughts
March is my favorite time of year to set new goals.
It’s not hectic like January. Not lazy like summer.
It’s the perfect time to prepare yourself before spring really kicks into gear.
Get a head start by thinking about which areas of your life you’d like to improve BEFORE March even starts.
You don’t need a full calendar reset.
You don’t need to wait until next January.
Just show up with intention and keep putting in the work.
Cheers to a wonderful March.
