Characteristics Of A Godly Woman

1. She is trustworthy

One main characteristic of a godly woman is that she’s trustworthy. Her husband trusts her and does not need to be afraid of harm because she will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

2. She is hard-working

Another trait of a Christian woman is that she is hard working. Proverbs 31: 13 “She seeketh wool, and flax, and works willingly with her hands.” She understands her role as a wife and riseth while it is yet night to give meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She doesn’t eat the bread of idleness because she’s always willing to work with her hands to feed her family.

3. She is visionary

Verse 16-18. A god-fearing woman is a visionary woman. She recognizes opportunities and starts up a business that will yield her income to take care of her family. And she doesn’t seem to give up until she has accomplished her goals.

4. She is Kind

Verse 20 “She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.” A godly woman is compassionate and extends her benevolent heart to the less privileged. She is not harsh or wicked to people of lower status, rather, she shows them hospitality.

5. She plans ahead

Verse 21 “She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.” Her ability to see the future and plan for it gives her the courage to remain firm when challenges come. A virtuous woman sees the evil days coming and makes plans on how to overcome those problems.

6. She is modest

Verse 22 “She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.” A Christian woman is careful about the way she dresses. She is modest and does not dress as the world does.

7. She honours and takes care of her husband

V 23 “Her husband is known in the gates when he sitteth among the elders of the land.” Another trait of a godly woman is that she honours and takes proper care of her husband. Everyone knows her husband because of the way she takes care of him. Both his physical stature and the clothes he wears tell people that his wife is a woman that knows the Lord and adheres to how the bible instructed women to treat their husbands.

8. She is honourable

V 25 “Strength and honour are her clothing, and she shall rejoice in time to come.” Her good work brings her honour everywhere she goes. Everyone knows she’s truly a God-fearing woman and honours her.

9. She is full of wisdom

Vs 26 “She openeth her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” A godly woman is full of wisdom and teaches her children and her entire household to always show kindness to those in need.

10. She is loyal and respectful

You will identify a godly woman through her loyalty and respect towards her husband and others in society. She submits to her husband and makes sure her family is properly taken care of. Even her husband and children praise her (verse 28) for all her good works.

11. She is God-fearing

What does it mean for a woman to be God-fearing? A God-fearing woman avoids acting in certain ways or doing certain things just because of her reverence for the Lord. For instance, a woman who fears God does not cheat on her husband. She doesn’t steal from him, nor does she lie or disrespect him. All these are the characteristics of a godly woman.
